How to use PDF to Image

  1. Open a PDF file.
  2. Select the pages to convert, or keep all pages selected.
  3. Choose the image format and resolution.
  4. Select Convert to images and download a single image or a ZIP file.

When you need images instead of a PDF

PDF is ideal for documents, but there are many places where it is not accepted or not convenient. Social media posts, chat apps, presentation slides, websites and many online forms expect image files. Converting the pages you need into JPG or PNG solves that, and it also makes it easy to share a single page of a long document without sending the whole file.

Step-by-step

  1. Open your PDF. If it is protected, enter the password when asked; it is used only in your browser.
  2. All pages are selected. Click a page to deselect it, or use Select none and pick only the pages you need.
  3. Choose the format and resolution.
  4. Select Convert. One page downloads as an image; several pages download together as a ZIP file.

Choosing the resolution

Resolution is measured in DPI, the number of pixels created for each inch of the page. The right value depends on where the image will be used:

ResolutionA4 page becomesBest for
72 DPIabout 595 x 842 pixelsQuick previews and thumbnails
150 DPIabout 1,240 x 1,754 pixelsScreens, messaging apps, slides and websites
300 DPIabout 2,480 x 3,508 pixelsPrinting, zooming into small text, archiving

Higher resolutions produce larger files and take longer to create. For most sharing, 150 DPI is the sweet spot.

JPG, PNG or WEBP?

  • JPG: the smallest files for pages with photos, and the most widely accepted format.
  • PNG: perfectly sharp text, lines and charts with no compression artifacts. Larger files.
  • WEBP: smaller than JPG at similar quality, accepted by modern websites and browsers.

If you are not sure, choose JPG at quality 85 to 90 for documents with photos, and PNG for text-only pages that must stay crisp.

Opening the ZIP file

When you convert more than one page, the images are packed into a single ZIP file so you get one download instead of dozens. Windows and macOS open ZIP files with a double-click. On Android, the Files app can extract them, and on iPhone the Files app opens a ZIP with a tap. Each image is named after the PDF and its page number, so they stay in order.

Frequently asked questions

How do I download all pages at once?

When more than one page is selected, the images are packed into a single ZIP file. Most computers and phones can open ZIP files without extra software.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password. You will be asked for it when you open the file.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Pages are rendered in your browser.

Will the images include links and form fields?

Images show exactly how each page looks, including filled-in form fields, but links are no longer clickable because an image is just pixels.

Can I convert only one page?

Yes. Select only that page and convert it. The image downloads directly without a ZIP file.

Why are some pages blank or missing images?

Rarely, a PDF uses features or damaged data that cannot be rendered. Try opening and re-saving the file in another PDF reader, then convert the new copy.
